Malta’s Employment Continue to Rise. In the third quarter of 2017, Malta was noted as the the second highest employment increase in the European Union. Statistics by eurostat show and increase by 1.1% over the second quarter and 4.9% over the same period last year. Estonia proved to be highest ranked country with 1.3%.
The “professional and support services” & “information and communication” sectors saw the highest improvements of number of jobs across the EU in the third quarter of the yeat.
The “financial and insurances activities” sectors where the worst performing industries in terms of employment growth over the same period.
Data on Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) – a measure of material welfare of households – were also published today by the EU’s statistics office.
The countries where households were found to enjoy a lower measure of material wealth than their Maltese counterparts were the Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia and Bulgaria.
